Maxine Hoover is a Fine Artist based in New York City. She has been painting and drawing since she was a child and started receiving commissions at age 16. Maxine holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Fashion Institute of Technology and Politecnico Di Milano. Her paintings explore the concept of self and the relationship between the physical and spiritual world, primarily executed with acrylic, oil paint and mixed materials. A lifelong practitioner of yoga and meditation, Maxine’s work layers figure studies with surreal and ethereal elements, inspired by meditative visions, dreams, and exploration.
Maxine is also the curator of Landmark Art Space in Chelsea and produces semi weekly shows at the space, many of them focused heavily on elevating female emerging and established artists. Maxine’s work as a curator has been recognized by AM New York, The Village Sun and Strauss News. She was recently honored by Schneps Media as a 2024 Power Woman of Manhattan.
